Who we are

Why Choose Mackenzie Companions

We set up the business as a result of our own experience of trying to access services to help us support our elderly relatives to maintain independent living.  While we could access personal care services, it was not easy to find a service whose focus was on promoting the mental wellbeing of our relatives and who had the team with the knowledge, experience and ability to deliver such support. As such we offer:

Our Clients

Hear from our clients

Our clients come from all walks of life but share a common goal – staying as independent as possible for as long as possible. They want the freedom to choose and tailor services to suit their personal needs and circumstances.

I live on my own and I do not keep very well so it means a lot to me to have my MacKenzie Companion. I enjoy the companionship and the staff are so efficient and helpful’

Mr McD, Inverness

We were very grateful that Mackenzie’s stepped in to help with our relative when we absolutely needed it, and we had such peace of mind knowing they were there.

Ms Y McK, Inverness

All of the staff are very caring and obliging. They will do anything that you want and nothing is too much bother to them. It is very much ‘my’ visit when they are with me and they are happy to go along with my wishes. It has helped me a lot’

Mrs W, Inverness

All the staff are excellent, very helpful, courteous and excellent time keepers. They see what we need without being told and we are managing much better now. We just wish every older person could have a MacKenzie Companion.

Mr and Mrs H, Inverness

Mackenzie Companion Services have made it possible for me to enable my father to remain safe and content in his own home, and their regular communications with me, reassure me that he is being supported in a caring and diligent fashion.

FAQ’s

Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that choosing the right support for your relative can be overwhelming. Here’s some information to help guide you.

What kind of service do you offer?

We offer Companion services between the hours of 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

The aim of our Companion service is to provide clients with someone who will be a friendly and supportive presence in their home and so assist them to maintain their independence. Our Companions spend time with the client engaging in activities of the client’s choice such as; accompanying to appointments, joining in with a hobby, reminiscing about stories, photos and times past, accompanying the client to social activities or simply having a chat and a cuppa.

For clients with a diagnosis of dementia we are able to offer a more specialist Companion service tailored to assisting the client to maintain the optimum level of physical, mental, social and emotional wellbeing.

We are also able to provide practical help with tasks that clients now find difficult such as changing a bed, shopping, dealing with household trades and correspondence.

How long will it take to find me a Companion?

We recognise the importance of the relationship between a client their Companion so we are committed to finding you the right person to work with you. We will undertake a detailed assessment with you of the service you require and then identify the member of our team with whom we think you will get on best. We aim to allocate a member of the team to you within 2 weeks of this assessment being completed.

We will arrange for you to meet your Companion before they start work. You can specify the days and times your Companion will visit. If you can be flexible with your choice of days and times it will be easier for us to quickly allocate you a member of the team.

How often do I have to commit to using your service?

We aim to provide a bespoke service, tailored to your needs and wherever possible we will try and accommodate you requirements. Our visits are for a minimum period of 2 hours.

How do you select your team members?

We interview all prospective team members, take up references from past employers and insist on background checks through Disclosure Scotland. All of our team must successfully complete a probationary period and we provide training for all of our Companions.
